Attack Surface Risk Management Video

2022

Illustrator, After Effects

During my summer internship as a content designer at Trend Micro, I was asked to make an animation explaining a complex cybersecurity topic using the analogy of a house. I worked through iterations with the stakeholders who requested it and collaborated with people from all over the company to bring it together, from the director of video communications for video guidance to a chief technologist who passionately volunteered to narrate the script.

During the briefing for this project, we went over what the context of the video would be and how it would be used. We all agreed that this video would mainly be used internally for those learning about Trend's products, but also could be used for sellers to explain how attack surface risk management works to customers. As such, the video was to be under 5 minutes and kept unlisted on Youtube.

The stakeholders started out by giving me a rough storyboard:

And I ran from there:

I spent some time iterating through different versions. I was given more freedom to use variations of brand colours
Originally, there was a version of the video that had a cat as a burglar and a ghost, but it was ultimately decided that they made the topic seem less serious than what it is.

After a month of creation, collaboration, and iteration, the final result was published and is still being used across the company for various purposes, from educating new hires to explaining to sellers what the Trend Micro helps protect.
